Evelyn A. Walker, of Somerville New Jersey died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

She was born in Somerville on January 28, 1936 to the late Arthur and Alice Walker and had resided in Somerville all of her life. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1954. She was employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone Company (now Verizon) for 35 years, retiring in 1989. She later was employed by the Somerset County Chamber of Commerce for 20 years. She was a member of the Pioneers of America. Evelyn was a loyal Yankee fan and animal lover, especially of cats. She was an avid gardener and loved to read, sew and cook.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and infant brother, George William Walker.

Survivors include her Aunt Mary Orecchio of Toms River, NJ and cousins Virginia and Tom Kirk of Branchburg, NJ., Michael Orecchio of Manchester Township, NJ., Jan and Jim Fagan of Ocean County, Joy and Joe Hipple of Mesa, Az., and William and Eileen Jones of Fl. Other relatives in NJ are Richard and Kenneth Snyder. She is also survived by her pet cats.

Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday at Bruce C. Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville NJ beginning with a visitation at 9am. Interment will follow at New Cemetery, Somerville.
