Pharmacist, Pilot, Musician

Harold Krusch (Hal)

86, of Hillsborough, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Hal was born on February 29, 1928 in Newark, NJ to Philip and Faye Krusch. Hal graduated from Weequhaic High School and Rutgers School of Pharmacy. He was also an Army veteran.Hal was a wonderful pharmacist who owned two drug stores, one in Roselle, the other in Bloomfield. When his customers could not afford or get an appointment with their doctors, they could always rely on Hal's advice. Hal was a man of many talents and interests. His greatest love was his music. He was a fine saxophonist, who played in community orchestras for many years. He also played the clarinet and flute. Later in life, he became a hypnotist, and was especially proud of achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a licensed pilot. His corny humor endeared him to his friends and family.

He was predeceased by his brother, Eugene.

He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Bernice (Bunny) for 63 years, and a wonderful father to his children. Alan remembers the closeness he felt to his father having breakfast every Sunday at the Lido diner, before going to the drug store to work. Linda felt truly loved by her father and remembers the way his eyes lit up whenever she walked into a room. Robin remembers the excitement of flying with him just after he earned his piloting license. His son Gary shared the love of music with his father, who bought him his first set of drums when he was 14. Hal's greatest joy was his grandchildren David, Daniel, Ross, Lauren, Amanda, Danielle and Dawn. He just missed the birth of a great-grandchild.

Services and interment will be held on March 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery, Rt. 1, Woodbridge, N.J. Arrangements are by Bruce C Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville.

Donations in Hal's honor may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 9 Lamington Rd, Suite A, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
