Eric J. Schmidling
86, died August 4, 2010.
Eric was born in Jersey City and raised in River Edge and was formerly of Tewksbury for over 30 years before moving to Bridgewater in 2004. He was employed as a flight director for Pan American Airways for 44 years retiring in 1990. He served in the Pacific with the US Naval Reserve during WWII. He graduated from Wayne College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. During his retirement he was an active volunteer with the Deer Path YMCA in Flemington working with the physically and mentally challenged. Eric will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his companion Rufino Saez and two brothers John and Charles. Surviving are his nieces Jaye S. Newbold and Jean J. Schmidling and several great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 3pm Saturday August 14, 2010 at the Arbor Glen Auditorium, 100 Monroe Street, Bridgewater. Arrangements by Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville, NJ 908-725-3111,
