Catherine E. "Betty" Anderson

88, died November 17, 2009.

Betty was born in Lima, Ohio to John and Sarah Anderson, lived in Somerville during her teens, and resided in Hempstead, Long Island before moving to Bridgewater in 1976. She was employed as Home Economics teacher for Plainfield Board of Education and then for Hempstead Board of Education for over 30 years retiring in 1976. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1939, the NJ College for Women in 1943 with a BA degree and from Columbia University with a Masters Degree. She was a member of the choir at the United Reformed Church, Somerville History Club, Garden City Choral Society and was a founding member of Lincoln Center. Betty was an avid reader and especially enjoyed attending auction sales hosted by Van Plet auctioneers. She was a loving sister and aunt and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is predeceased by a brother John C. Anderson Jr.

Surviving are her brothers, Robert V. Anderson, MD and his wife Cleda, William T. Anderson, MD and his wife Sylvia, sister-in-law Ruth B. Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be 11am Tuesday December 1, 2009 at United Reformed Church, 100 West Main St, Somerville. Arrangements by Bruce C VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave. Somerville 908-725-3111.
