Joseph E. Breyan
76, died October 22, 2009.
Joseph was born in Bayonne and formally of Bound Brook before moving to Somerville in 1997. He was a night manager at A&P in Pluckemin and Finderne before retiring in 1999. After his retirement Joseph was a school crossing guard in Somerville for the past ten years. He was a Sgt. 1st Class veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Joseph was a communicant at St. Mary's in Bound Brook, enjoyed writing poems that were published and he received a merit award by the International Society of Poets. He was a charitable person who made many donations to Catholic Charities. Joseph loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed helping other children as a crossing guard. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.
Surviving are his three daughters Joann Brink and her husband Bart, Jennifer Price and her husband Tom, Mary Herbig and her husband Joe and two sons Jeffery and Rudy and his wife Karen, and two sisters Agnes Gallo and Marie Barker and eleven grandchildren and two great grand children.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Tuesday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, Somerville. 908-725-3111 preceded by a visitation at 9am. Interment will follow at Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
