Donald S. "Don" Knowlton
73, died October 18, 2009 at his residence.
Don was born in Summit and formerly of Springfield where he was raised before moving to Bridgewater over 40 years ago. He was employed as an electrician for IBEW Local 102 in Parsippany for 33 years retiring in 1993. Don attended Newark College of Engineering and National Radio and TV Institute of Washington , DC. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he was assigned to the USS Alstede. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Far Hills. Don was an excellent handyman, enjoyed gardening and especially loved vacationing with his family at their home in Long Beach Island. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his sister Marjorie Johnson who died in 2008.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 53 years Gloria, three daughters Lisa Grenauer and her husband Charles, Donna Ferruggia and her husband Frank and Michele Pecora and her husband John and twelve grandchildren.
Prayers will be said 9:30am Friday at the Bruce C Van Arsdale Funeral Home, 111 N.Gaston Ave. Somerville, 908-725-3111 followed by a 10:30Am Mass at St. Elizabeth RC Church 34 Peapack Rd Far Hills.
Visitation will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
